Mirror frame transformation

I bought a plain mirror for £20 off of amazon to put in my student room, however it did look a bit plain in my otherwise busy room.

The mirror before it was painted (excuse me taking a selfie)

I bought some acrylic paint from wilko for £1 each. I chose green, blue and white to match the colours of my room however, I reckon the pattern would suit any combination of colours.

Using the white, I mix up a range of shades of blue and green and get ready to paint. My idea is to paint different shapes in different colours around the frame for an abstract design. I did not plan the shapes I was going to paint but went with the flow, that way you avoid the mirror looking too calculated and rigid.

An up-close view

I followed the pattern round from the front to the sides. The messy look may be due to the fact my brushes are old and the paint was on £1, but I do like the the messy look. To make sure all the colours stood out, I waited for them to dry and painted a second layer.

The finished mirror complements my room colours and has an abstract look. It is a very easy design to paint and looks good in any room! I have had quite a few compliments on this mirror as people can't believe how different it looks from the plain black frame it had before.
